Come in, come in. Welcome to my office. Please, take a seat. It’s a dark winters evening. I sit, typewriter before me, and stare out of my office window at the dimly lit street below. Work’s run late again. My wife will not be happy. My name? Detective Isolde, ‘Private I’ for short. Writer by day, private investigator by night. The case? The hardest I’ve had to work yet. How can but a man with a pen transport people to other worlds, shift their perspectives and make them feel as they never have before? The leads are plentiful and the office nights are long. With my nose for mystery, magic and other related mayhem, and your fresh set of eyes and clearly refined taste, perhaps we can finally solve this case together. So, peruse my latest case notes and musings, and see where your personal red string leads you.

Okay, you got me. I’m not actually a detective. But hey, a boy can dream right? My name is Isolde though, and I am a creative writer (I even have the flash piece of paper to prove it). When asked to sell myself in the third person I usually say:

“Isolde is an Australian immersive storyteller and creative, intrigued by the ever increasingly blurred line between the realm of imagination and our reality. They continue to be a queer writer in more ways than one, and their work often explores themes of the surreal, the peculiar, and the fantastical within the mundane, in both content and form. They imbue all their writing with a touch of humour that makes their voice distinct in nature, and appealing to a broad audience of the weird and the worried.” – Someone other than themself.

Personally I prefer to go by my professional title, ‘Amateur Detective (zero cases solved)’. It feels more honest. Plus it’s good to have aspirations.
